The trust was originally formed to help the patients of the Baldwin Ward at Leicester Frith Hospital by the provision of a narrow boat for day outings or longer holidays. This aim is now extended to include elderly, infirm and other needy groups of people, some in care homes to whom a day spent in the tranquil canal side environment are especially beneficial. Extending our aims still further, we are also pleased to arrange trips for small or family groups with a deserving family member. Many slightly more mature people have some difficulty is getting on or off any boat so our boats are designed to be very "user friendly". Both are fitted with ramps and electrically operated lifts to make boarding as easy as possible and passengers in wheel chairs are most welcome. The Trust is a charitable organization staffed by volunteers who offer waterway outings on the Soar navigation for community or family groups within Leicestershire. The cruises offered are generally from 4 hour to 7 hour duration, however we can offer longer outings by prior arrangement.
