Since its foundation in 1988 the Baldwin trust has operated specially adapted narrow boats giving canal and river day trips for family groups and in particular for the elderly, the disabled and those with special needs. The Trust's core purpose is to provide comfortable and tranquil cruises on the local waterways which can have a really therapeutic effect by offering a complete change from normal everyday life. The boats are fitted with ramps and lifts for easy access and they can take passengers in wheel chairs
The Trust gains its finance in a number of ways, for our regular boat trips we have a scale of daily charges to meet our running costs. All members work as un-paid volunteer crew to look after the boat and the visiting group on their outing.
We always welcome donations to support our work and appreciate this when done through a Gift Aid arrangement so that we may reclaim tax.
The Trust is a charitable organization run by volunteers. A qualified skipper is in charge of every cruise accompanied by at least two crew members who have all received training in boat safety and boat handling on the inland waterways.
More background information and the people involved with the trust including the Trustees and Management Committee can be found on our About Us page.
